Upper Delaware walk for peace

CALLICOON, NY — A two-day walk for Peace will be held on the Veterans Day weekend, November 10 and 11. The first part of the walk will start in Callicoon, on Sunday November 10 at 10:00 a.m. and will cover both sides of the Delaware River before ending in Narrowsburg around 4:00 p.m. The second day, Monday, November 11 the walk will begin at 9:00 a.m. in Narrowsburg and end in Shohola, PA at about 3:00 p.m.

Mort Malkin and Michel Legrand, the primary organizers of the event, will walk the entire distance and invite others to join them for one or both days, on any part of the walk that suits them.

The main purpose of the walk is to stress alternative solutions to disputes since war inevitably spawns hatred, destruction and more violence.

The effort will unite NY and PA people in an effort to show their opposition to the Bush Administration’s move towards a pre-emptive war with Iraq.
