Dirlam awaits
railroad OK

By TOM KANE

NARROWSBURG — Roger Dirlam, owner of Dirlam Brothers Lumber Company of Honesdale and new owner of Narrowsburg Lumber Company, must await permission from the Norfolk Southern Railroad before he officially takes over the properties that belonged to the former owners.

“We’ve purchased the business but must await a lease agreement from the railroad before taking possession of three properties,” he said.

The three Narrowsburg Lumber sites are located along the railroad tracks in Narrowsburg and Shohola, PA and includes Designer Kitchens on Route 6, near the intersection of Route 652 outside of Honesdale, PA.

“We have to await [a lease] even to take possession of the Honesdale property because it’s part of the entire deal, even though it’s not on railroad land,” he said.

No employees were let go and business is proceeding as usual, he said.
