Walter Markowski honored
DAMASCUS — On Thursday, September
12 Damascus School students, faculty and staff will
dedicate the Athletic Field on the Damascus School
Campus. It will be a way of honoring and celebrating
the principalship of Walter R. Markowski.
The ceremony will be held from 2:15
to 2:45 p.m. and will include the release of environmentally-sensitive
balloons by the entire student body. This is intended
as a way of symbolizing the far-reaching impact that
Walter Markowski had on the school and the community.
Current principal, Sandra Rickard invites
the public to attend.
Henri graduates
ELDRED — Marine Corporal Michael
T. Henri has graduated, with meritorious mast; from
the Marine Security Guard School in Quantico Virginia
on June 28. Corporal Henri received the Top Gun award
for his skill and accuracy with firearms. He has been
assigned to Lagos Nigeria for duty with the American
Consulate as a Marine Security Guard. As a member
of the Marine Security Guard Detachment, Corporal
Henri will be charged with safe guarding classified
information and the safety of American property. He
will work closely with the Department of State personnel.
Michael is a graduate of Eldred Central School. He
is the son of Thomas and Ruth Henri who reside in
Staten Island, NY.
Robertson
graduates
ELDRED — Kelly Anne Robertson,
daughter of Bonnie Robertson and the late Robert S.
Robertson of Eldred, graduated from Muhlenberg College
with a BA in Psychology and a concentration in Elementary
Education. Robertson was named to the college’s
Dean’s List for the 2002 Spring Semester. Robertson
has accepted a first grade teaching position at George
Ross Mackenzie Elementary School, Glen Spey.
