Tom’s Bait and Tackle expands

By TOM KANE

NARROWSBURG — Tom’s Bait and Tackle is growing. “Business has been so good that we saw an opportunity when the place next door became vacant,” said shop owner Tom Coacci. Tom and his wife Cecilia have been operating Tom’s Bait and Tackle in Peck’s Plaza for 11 years.

When Carini’s Pizzera closed the second half of its operation after the untimely death of its proprietor, Frank Satiro, last May, the Coaaci’s decided to rent the space. “We’re very happy with the expanded location,” Tom said.

In addition to selling bait and fishing tackle, the store sells guns, clothing and accessories to hunters, and carries a wide array of reasonably priced seasonal and outdoor gear for camping and river recreation.

“People come up from the city without enough supplies for camping. We fill their needs,” Tom said. In addition to items such as river shoes, tubes and lawn chairs, the store sells grills, Coleman stoves and lamps, sleeping bags and tents. “We also sell fishing licenses,” he said, and paint ball gunners can come to the store to have their guns filled with carbon dioxide.

“We even sell pots and pans that local people buy,” Cecilia said.

Summer store hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Tom’s Bait and Tackle can be reached at 845/252-7445.
