JOSEF ANTON BOEHM
HIGHLAND LAKE — Josef Anton Boehm of Highland Lake, a retired
truck driver with PennDOT and a former resident of Milford, PA, died Wednesday,
July 3, 2002 at Park Manor Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Middletown.
He was 70.
He was born April 5, 1932 in Germany. He was the widower of
Casilda Stuhler Boehm.
Survivors include two sons, Hans and wife Joanne of Highland
Lake and Manfred “Fred” of Cuddebackville; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a date to be announced. Cremation
took place at the H.G. Smith Crematory in Stroudsburg, PA.

WALTER BROWN
TUCSON, AZ — Walter “The Piano Man” Brown of Tucson, AZ a music
teacher in Livingston Manor from 1969 to 1972, died Friday, June 26, 2002.
He was 55.
Son of Walt and Jeanne Brown, he was born August 24, 1946 in
Middletown. He graduated from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff with
a Bachelor in Music Education degree in 1969. He taught for three years in
Livingston Manor while attending Columbia University in New York City for
piano tuning and repair. He established Walt’s Piano Service in Tucson in
1972 and for the past 30 years has tuned, rebuilt and restored pianos. He
was a past president of the Piano Tuners Guild, an active member of St. Francis
in the Foothills Church, Divorce Recovery and a mentor to many people.
Survivors include his wife, Maria Eva Brown; his parents of
Tucson; a daughter, Deborah Lesneski and husband David of Tucson; a son Donald
and wife Lesa Brown of Edwards, CA; two stepsons, Gerardo and Oliverio of
Durango, Mexico; a brother Steve and wife Justine of Middletown; a sister
Susan Jernigan and husband Terry of Tucson; two grandchildren; two nieces
and a nephew.
Services were held at St. Francis in the Foothills Church in
Tucson.
EDNA DUBSON
MONTICELLO — Edna Dubson of Monticello, a retired school aid
for 25 years in PS 183 in Queens and a longtime area resident, died Thursday,
July 4, 2002 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 77.
Daughter of the late Nathan and Jennie Rappaport, she was born
August 10, 1924 in Brooklyn.
Survivors include her husband, Sidney Dubson at home; a son,
Ira and wife Bonny of Damascus, PA; a daughter, Nadine of New York; a brother,
Alfred Rappaport of Brooklyn; and a step-grandson, Matthew.
Graveside services were held in the Beth Moses Cemetery in Pinelawn.
CATHERINE J. NAIZBY
FOREST CITY — Catherine J. Maizby of Forest City died Saturday,
June 29, 2002 at the Forest City Nursing Center in Forest City. She was 100.
Daughter of Thomas and Mary Gibbs Swindlehurst, she was born
September 30, 1901 in Carbondale.
She was a sales clerk at Katz Bros. Dept. Store in Honesdale
before retirement and was also a telephone operator in Waymart. She was a
member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in Waymart and taught Sunday
School there.
Survivors include a son, James T. and wife Bonnie of Honesdale;
a daughter Jean Williams and husband Gordon; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren;
two great great grandchildren; nieces and a cousin.
She was predeceased by a son, Fred and a brother, George Swindlehurst.
Services were held at the Jenkins Funeral Home in Waymart. The
Rev. Nancy Pitely, pastor of the Calvary United Methodist Church, officiated.
Burial was in the Canaan Corners Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Waymart Calvary United
Methodist Church.
VINCENT SGUEGLIA
DAMASCUS — Vincent Sgueglia of Damascus, a retired butcher,
died at home Friday, June 28, 2002. He was 85.
Son of the late Antonio and Anna Porta Sgueglia, he was born
June 19, 1917 in the Bronx, NY.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Elsie at home; two daughters, Mary
Ann Serra of New Jersey, Lorraine Ronchi of Pennsylvania; a son William of
Honesdale; stepchildren, Carol Mixon of Swan Lake, NY, Pamela Pfeil of Jeffersonville,
NY; Robert Roemer of Jeffersonville, NY, Donna Gilbert of Damascus; 10 grandchildren
and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services were held at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home. The Rev.
Father Ignatius Smith O.F.M. officiated. Burial was at the Hillside Cemetery
in Damascus.

RICHARD A. WILSON
NARROWSBURG — Richard Alfred Wilson of Narrowsburg, a former
resident and a retired set-up mechanic for Kolmar Labs in Port Jervis, died
Sunday, June 30, 2002 at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale. He was 73.
Son of the late William H. and Grace Kinney Wilson, he was born
January 4, 1929 in Middletown. He was the widower of Emma Drake who died in
1999.
He was a combat veteran of World War II and Korea, served with
the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Roosa-Fleming Post #161, Veterans of
Foreign Wars in Port Jervis, and was a member of the Beaver Brook Hunting
Club in Narrowsburg.
Survivors include a daughter, Diane Stewart and husband Gary
of Port Crane; a granddaughter, Brandi Clark and husband Shawn; a grandson,
Bertram D. Stewart IV; a great-granddaughter, Skylar; a cousin, Alton Crane
and two close friends, Ted West and Jim Doyle.
Burial was in the Wallkill Cemetery in Middletown.
