Making waves in the heat
BETHEL — The waters of White
Lake and Kauneonga Lake were bustling with people
on the last weekend of June.
“This past weekend was good,” said
Jules Linzer of Gene’s Boats. Business was much better
than it had been up to this point. Linzer said the
months of May and June were well below average due
to the wet weather.
“We’re running about the same as last
year,” reported Vicky Vassmer-Simpson of Vassmer’s.
“It’s always crazy busy before the Fourth of July.”
On the other side of the lake, John
Payne of Payne in the Rear experienced equally good
business. “Now that the camps are up, things
are good,” he said.
What does the rest of the season look
like? No one was willing to speculate this early.
“If I knew that,” Linzer said, “I’d
buy Lotto tickets.”
