Just like the Mighty Ducks
WILKES-BARRE — The Ice Box hockey
teams have just finished up their winter league, and
the Jackals took second place for the season in the
Squirt division. The team finished the season with
only one win, but came out strong in the championship
rounds and took second place.
In one of the final games, the Jackals
needed a win against the first seed, undefeated Ice
Men. They won with a score of 6 to 5 in a game that
came down to final seconds.
Goalie Richard Lander, the seven-year-old
son of Rick and Lisa Lander of Narrowsburg, had 23
saves and his nine-year-old brother, Alex, helped
out with a goal in the second period.
“It was like we were the “Mighty Ducks”
playing against a team that we weren’t supposed to
beat and did. It felt great,” Alex said.
The Ice Box is located in Wilkes Barre,
PA and offers year-round skating for adults and children.
