Clarification
Since the publication of TRR’s
June 20 story about Lumberland Supervisor John LiGreci’s
report before the town board that an endangered species
found near the Pond Eddy Bridge might threaten a planned
2004 bridge replacement project, no additional evidence
has been found to back up LiGreci’s contention.
Neither the Pennsylvania Department
of Transportation (PennDOT), which is building the
bridge, or the New York Department of Environmental
Conservation, which LiGreci gave as the source of
the report, have reported anything to document his
contention.
Other private and government sources
have challenged its validity.
PennDOT says the bridge project remains
on schedule.
The Lumberland supervisor has not responded
to recent inquiries for additional documentation supporting
his remarks.
Correction
Joseph Greco, aged three, was misidentified
in last week’s story about New Hope Manor in
Barryville.
