CAROLYN A. CICCONE
HAWLEY — Carolyn A. (Vannatta) Ciccone, a housekeeper at Silver
Birches Resort in Tafton, PA, died at home on June 15, 2002. She was 58.
The daughter of the late Ward and Etta Card Vannatta, she was
born in Damascus.
Ciccone was very involved in the activities of her daughters
and grandchildren.
Survivors include three daughters, Daun Ciccone of Hawley, Lisa
Riddle of Vanleer, TN, and Gina Ehrhardt of Paupack; a sister, Gladys Stanton
of Port Orange,FL; two brothers, Willard Vannatta of Milford and Eugene Vannatta
of Daytona, FL. There are five grandchildren, Garrett, Dalton, Cole, Raeann
and Ryan.
Funeral services are at Hawley United Methodist Church on Thursday,
June 20 at 11:00 a.m. presided by Rev. Martin L. Cox, Jr. Arrangements are
by Teeters’ Funeral Chapel.

ANDREW E. DULEY
HONESDALE — Andrew E. Duley, “The Little Giant,” a retired furniture
assembler for the S.J. Bailey & Sons Furniture Company of Honesdale, died
on June 9, 2002. He was 92.
The son of the late John and Catherine Timko Duley, he was born
in Dupont.
Duley was a talented baseball player and played for the Honesdale
Team in the 1930’s and 1940’s. He was an outstanding veteran pitcher in the
Wayne County League where he got the nickname, “The Little Giant.” He was
thought by many experts of the day as the brainiest pitcher in the league
at that time. He was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Honesdale,
a life-member and past president of the Cherry Ridge Fishing Club and a member
and one of the founding fathers of the Friends of Bill W’s in Honesdale in
the early 1950’s.
Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Joan Duley of Honesdale;
a sister, Ann Wyatt of Tulsa, OK; two grandsons, Andrew William Duley and
Kevin David Duley and wife Carlyn of Hoensdale; three great grandchildren,
Jennifer Lynn, Zachary James and Ciara Lynn; nieces and nephews.
The widower of Garnet L. Roberts, his wife of 64 years, he was
also preceded in death by a son, Andrew W. Duley in 2002; two sisters, Mary
Bendzel and Kate Kleback; and five brothers, Anthony, Edward, John, Joseph
and Charles.
Private funeral services will be conducted by the family from
the Hessling Funeral Home, 428 Main St., Honesdale, by the Rev. Kenneth Buckwalter,
Pastor of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Honesdale. Interment was
in Indian Orchard Cemetery, Texas Township.

EDMUND A. ENGLERT
GREELEY — Edmund A. Englert, an independent truck driver, of
Greeley, died on Monday, June 10, 2002 in Wayne Memorial Hospital. He was
63.
The son of the late Edmund and Helen Sieber Englert, he was
born in Patterson, NJ.
Survivors include his ex-wife, Irene Englert, of Greeley; a
son, Edmund Englert of Ohio, three daughters, Debbie VanOrden of Rowland;
Lorraine Englert of Lords Valley; Kim June Ocwieja of Scranton; a daughter,
Sara Slater; and two grandsons, Jarred Ocwieja and Connor Ocwieja.
A memorial service was held at Teeters’ East Chapel in Hawley.
Cremation took place in H.G. Smith Crematory in Stroudsburg.
Memorial contributions may be made to Greeley Fire Department
or Lackawaxen Ambulance Service.
ROBERT JOSEPH KING
MONTICELLO — Robert Joseph King, a carpenter and lifelong resident
of the area, died at home on Saturday, June 8, 2002. He was 38.
The son of Margaret Swingle King and the late Thomas R. King,
he was born September 13, 1963 in Monticello.
Survivors include his mother, Margaret King of Kauneonga Lake;
one son, Alex Puchalski of Monticello; his companion, Boni Puchalski of Monticello;
two brothers, Thomas King of Wurtsboro and William King of Monticello; one
sister, Connie DeFazio of Monticello; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles
and cousins.
Services were held at the Van Inwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home.
The Reverent Gene Smith officiated.
Cremation was at Cedar Hill Crematory in Newburgh, NY. Interment
of his ashes will be made at the convenience of the family in the Rock Ridge
Cemetery, in Monticello.

ELLA POPOLILLO
CALLICOON — Ella Popolillo, an artist and sales clerk at the
“Band Box” in Callicoon and Nurses Aide at Callicoon Hospital, died Friday,
June 14, 2002 in Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. She was 79.
The daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Pottfay, she was born
August 2, 1922 in Czechoslovakia.
The widow of Frank Popolillo, she was a volunteer librarian
at Delaware Public Library in Callicoon. She attended Cooper Union Art Institute
in New York City.
Survivors include four daughters, Karen Fanti of Boynton Beach,
FL, Donna Weed of Rock Hill, Joyce Sykes of Callicoon, Linda Grossman of Milford,
PA; one sister, Josephine Kurutz of Trenton, NJ; seven grandchildren; four
great-grandchildren; one nephew and two nieces.
Funeral services were held at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home,
Inc. in Callicoon. Father Ignatius Smith, O.F.M., officiated.
Burial was in Callicoon Cemetery, Callicoon, NY.

RONALD F. WEINBERGER, SR.
HONESDALE — Ronald F. Weinberger Sr., a lifelong Honesdale resident
and owner and operator of RW Loft Studio, died Wednesday, June 12 at home
after an illness.
The son of the late Clara Richter Weinberger Smith and the late
Francis Weinberger, he was a 1970 graduate of Honesdale High School. He received
an associate degree in photography from Antonelli School of Photography, Philadelphia.
A Texas Township supervisor, he was an experienced carpenter
and worked for Hayden Construction and Camp Towanda.
A volunteer for American Cancer Society, he also served as Republican
Committee person for Texas Township. A member of the Clover Leaf Huntington
Club and the Cherry Ridge Fishing club, he collected antiques, enjoyed travel
and loved Hawaii.
Survivors include three sons, Ronald Jr., Richard and Robert
at home; his former wife and caregiver, Maje Kropf Weingberger; two sisters,
Deanna and husband Vincent Bates, of Honesdale, and Margaret Bagdonas of Waymart;
nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass was celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Church
in Honesdale. Internment was in St. Mary Magdalen’s Cemetery, in Honesdale.
