Deputies’ contract still unresolved

MONTICELLO — Sullivan County Road Patrol deputies are pictured as they continued their informational picketing at the government center on March 7.

Sheriff Dan Hogue told county legislators that the county needs to make salaries competitive, or continue to lose trained officers and risk developing a reputation for poor law enforcement.

Legislative chair Rusty Pomeroy (D-3) has said that he expects an early resolution to the contract negotiation impasse.

An independent mediator is scheduled to meet with both sides on March 26.
