Get the groundwater picture
BLOOMING GROVE — “Get the Groundwater Picture:
Understanding Pike County’s Fragile Groundwater Resources” is a
public education program which is scheduled Saturday, April 6, from
8:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the Dingman-Delaware Middle School.
Presentations and discussion will focus on regional
concerns including private and community wells, water testing, potential
sources of contaminants and preventing groundwater contamination,
community efforts to protect groundwater, watersheds and groundwater,
and demonstrations on a groundwater flow model.
A registration fee of $5 per person with pre-registration

Prepare for hunting season
with safety course
HONESDALE — The Wayne County Chamber of Commerce
will sponsor a two-day Basic Hunter-Trapper Education Course on
Saturday, April 6 from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday, April 7 from
1:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Wayne County Visitors Center Community
Room, 303 Commercial Street.
This course, presented by PA Game Commission Officers
and volunteer instructors, is a requirement for all first-time hunters
in Pennsylvania, regardless of age. Adults who plan out-of-state
hunting trips should also attend one of these courses, since all
48 contiguous states, as well as eight Canadian Provinces, mandate
some form of Hunter Education before they issuing a hunting license
or permit.
There is no charge for this course, but participants
must attend both sessions in order to receive certification. Registration
can only be completed by mail.

29.

UDC Committees convene
NARROWSBURG — The Upper Delaware Council (UDC)
will hold the next monthly meeting of the Water Use/Resource Management
Committee (WU/RM) on Tuesday, March 19 at 7:00 p.m. at the UDC office,
211 Bridge Street.
The agenda will include new and old business, updates
on ongoing projects, reports of recent meetings, and notices of
upcoming events.

Caboose Group plans
celebration
SHOHOLA — The Shohola Railroad & Historical
Society (SRHS), also known as the Caboose Group, installed its annual
slate of officers on March 6. They are Pete Ferrara, president;
Keith Raser, vice president; Marianne Yeaw, secretary; and Martha
Shadler, treasurer. Elliott Zucker continues as a trustee.
The Society recognized George Fluhr for his many
years of dedicated service as treasurer. The Caboose Group is organizing
Community Day to celebrate Shohola Township’s 150th Anniversary
on September 21 at Shohola Firehouse. The committee is soliciting
citizen, church and civic groups along with area businesses to participate
at the event.

items, organizing games, or attending an informational and educational
booth are welcome to contact the Society at 570/559-7438.
The SRHS will sponsor informal Family Days at varying
Shohola locations during the next few months. The first event will
be Kite Day on Saturday, April 20 during the Pike Pear Blossom Festival,
followed by Poster Day, on Saturday, May 4 at St Jacobi Lutheran
Church.
