EagleFest celebrates the return of the endangered

By DIANE GLYNN

NARROWSBURG — Nearly 700 eagle-lovers attended the first EagleFest in New York State last weekend, with visitors from as far away as Toronto, Canada. Why host the first EagleFest in Narrowsburg? Because eagles like it here, and have made the Upper Delaware the favored site for their winter habitat.

Conceived and sponsored by the Narrowsburg Chamber of Commerce and John and Yoke DiGiorgio of Nature’s Art, LLC, the event included presentations by the Delaware Valley Raptor Center of Milford, PA, the Eagle Institute of Lackawaxen, PA, Olympic bronze medal ice sculptor Mark Crouthamel of Tafton, PA, woodcarver Ed Schmitt of Jeffersonville and nature photographer Gene Weinstein.
