Selma Field dead at 76

By TOM KANE

MONTICELLO — Selma Field, champion of community health and spokesperson for the former Community General Hospital, died at the Catskill Regional Medical Center last Wednesday, December 19.

She had been battling cancer for a number of years, using therapies that are described as alternative or complementary medicine.

Because of her experience with some of these therapies, she became a champion of them and introduced some of them to the hospital—therapies like acupuncture, massage and healing touch.

Field, who was a co-founder with her husband, Edwin, of Field Associates, a public relations, marketing and management firm, was a principal actor in the merger of the Liberty Maimonides Hospital and the Monticello Hospital.
