Living Nativity attracts hundreds

By TOM KANE

HONESDALE — In what is becoming a popular Christmas holiday tradition, the Christian churches of Honesdale once again each portrayed a separate scene from the biblical account of the nativity.

The event was held on both Friday and Saturday evenings, December 7 and 8 in Honesdale’s Central Park.

Refreshments were offered to the public at several churches following the event.

Each of the eight scenes was dramatized by denomination members, while strollers and passing automobiles moved quietly from scene to scene.

“Especially this year, people are looking for comfort and inspiration to counteract the horrors of September 11,” said Honesdale resident Betty Lawson, who attended with her husband, John, and their three children, Colleen, Sean and Faith. “It helps us treasure our heritage and our faith.”
