NOTE: The River Reporter welcomes letters on all subjects from its

Letters can be sent by e-mail to editor@riverreporter.com] To the editor: It may seem early to you but for the Wayne County Children’s Christmas Bureau volunteers, it’s never too early. We welcome and gladly accept donations all year! The bureau is coordinated by the Honesdale Area Jaycees, along with the help of the Wayne County Volunteer program and the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce. We ask you to join us in our plans for 2001 making this the most memorable holiday season ever for Wayne County’s children. Last year we provided Christmas for over 700 children! In joining us in this special community program, we offer you the opportunity to bring joy during the holiday season to our neighbors who are less fortunate. You may reach out in spirit in many ways. Since we operate solely on donations, we need monetary contributions to purchase gifts for the children. We encourage fund-raising projects and hope that you, your friends, family or groups would consider creating a fundraiser that is enjoyable for you and beneficial to the children. “Adopt a Family” is a popular concept that has become a heart-felt means to personalizing the enjoyment of giving. Your business, family or organization may adopt a family and purchase gifts collectively. We have seen first hand the generosity of this way of celebrating the spirit of the holiday. Simply call the Wayne County Chamber office, 570/253-1960, to adopt! Please think of the children before the holiday rush overwhelms you. Whatever you choose to do, be assured that your anonymous gift of caring will bring a precious memory, one that may guide the holiday celebrations and, indeed the lives, of many young hearts throughout their lifetimes. The family you help this year may be helping another family next year. It happens. The spirit lives on. Donations may be sent to the Honesdale Area Jaycees, P.O.
