Second grader joins relief effort

WESTFALL — Kaitlin Hagglund, a second grader at the Delaware Valley School, wanted to do something to help the Red Cross’s efforts at the World Trade Center.

She convinced her fellow students in Virginia Donnelly’s classroom to help her affix red, white and blue beads to safety pins. The pins were then given, for a donation, to shoppers at area locations; in particular, Wal-Mart store in Westfall Township.

Kaitlin, seven, raised $1500 with the help of her mother, Denise.

Wal-Mart gave Kaitlin an award last Thursday, September 27, and has pledged to match whatever she raises. At present, Kaitlin is continuing her fund-raising efforts.
