Pennies from heaven – for WTC

NARROWSBURG — Students and faculty of Sullivan West at Narrowsburg School filled the gym floor with pennies last Tuesday for the Red Cross rescue effort at the World Trade Center. Students from Kindergarten to sixth grade participated. The seventh and eighth grade students, who were in class, contributed earlier. “The children are upset and many have trouble sleeping, so we thought this was a way for them to come together and contribute something,” said fourth grade teacher Cathy Spall. Teacher Monica Meunier’s son, Dan Ropke, works for NBC and will match what the students raise, and NBC will match what he gives. “This is a great opportunity for us to send a lot of money to the victims,” said teacher Karen Bliss, who organized the event.
