River council
awards assistance grants
NARROWSBURG — The Upper Delaware Council (UDC)
on September 6 awarded $19,600 in annual Technical Assistance Grants
(TAG) to fund nine projects furthering the efforts of the river
management plan.
Grants will go to:
- Lumberland for $3,200 to identify and inventory
historic barns of 50 years of age or more, to produce a permanent
index, map, design descriptions and other related materials.
- Deerpark for $3,000 to develop a town website
to promote the Upper Delaware and provide other town and local
information.
- Highland for $2,900 to update the town’s
zoning map with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) capabilities.
- Deerpark for $2,500 to similarly update that
town’s zoning map.
- Lumberland for $2,500 to update campground
regulations which will incorporated in town zoning.
- Delaware for $1,500 to create a brochure
listing town land use regulations, local laws and a provide a
town directory.
- Tusten for $1,400 to print and distribute
maps and purchase and install signs depicting the boundaries of
the town’s new wellhead protection overlay district.
- Sullivan County for $1,400, so the county
and the Sullivan County Community College might conduct a water
quality related, aquatic insect survey in the East and North branches
of the Callicoon Creek.
- Cochecton for $1,200 to establish comprehensive
standards for dog compounds which will be included in town zoning.
This year’s
awards brings to amount in TAG grants awarded by the UDC over
the past 13 years to $470,841.
