Master plan for cell towers in river valley?

By LAURIE STUART

NARROWSBURG — Since cell towers are definitely coming, communities along both sides of Delaware River Valley are getting together to open a discussion on a river valley wide plan. Upper Delaware Council (UDC) Executive Director Bill Douglass will moderate the 7:00 p.m. August 23 meeting at UDC headquarters on Bridge Street.

Following a July 9 request by Joe Freda for the UDC to coordinate a valley-wide discussion, the idea for a the creation of a master plan for cell towers was born. According to Douglass representatives of Sullivan, Orange and Delaware Counties, Lackawaxen, Shohola and Westfall Township in Pennsylvania, the towns of Cochecton, Delaware, Deerpark, Highland, Mamakating and Tusten in New York and the National Park Service (NPS) have indicated they will attend. Craig Thompson, GIS specialist from the Middle Delaware will explain computerized mapping available through the NPS. Cell tower plans from the St. Croix area of Minnesota and the Pine Lands of New Jersey will be available for perusal, Douglass said.

For more information or to register call the UDC at 845/252-3022.
