Showing their pride

MILFORD — Local artist Maria Torffield let the painted bears loose on August 12 at the Old Lumberyard Shops. The sculptures are part of the second annual Black Bear Film Festival, scheduled for October 19 to 21.

Last year, Torffield came up with the idea to create the colorful sculptures and distribute them throughout Milford prior to the festival. The artful creatures will be auctioned off during the film festival as a fundraiser.

This year’s pride has grown from six bears last year, to 12 for the 2001 event.
