Free produce for seniors and WIC recipients

SULLIVAN COUNTY — You may be eligible for $24 worth of produce at your local farmers’ market.

The Sullivan County Office of the Aging and the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program are distributing coupons to eligible people beginning in July.

WIC is a nutritional supplementary program for income eligible parents.

To take advantage you must be a senior 60 years or older or meet one of the following criteria:

  • Currently receiving SSI, public assistance, food stamps, Section 8 housing subsidy
  • Have monthly income—if single—that is no more than $1,486 or
  • Have a monthly income—if married—that is no more than $1,943

Farmers’ markets are located in: Liberty on Fridays on Darby Lane, Callicoon on Sundays on Dorrer Road, Ellenville on Saturdays on Route 209 and Bethel on Sundays at Route 17B.
