Hey there, gang! The Sullivan Renaissance deadline inches closer and folks are still working like jackrabbits to finish up town projects.

Helga Rupnick has got the Lumberland Regional Group really hopping for Sullivan Rennaissance. Helga sprang into action last March, and since has beautified the local cemetery with a sign and planter. Many thanks go to Rod MacNicoll for lending a hand in design, and Jerry Walters painting it for everybody. Lots of other posts and and a planter were put up by the folks from the Cemetery Committee and the Highway Department. Local Lions Joe Carr and Bill Lukacewicz built the planter with help from Leigh Sherman for the roofing. They plan on hanging the cemetery sign this week, and then they’re having a big ol’ planting party—everybody is invited come on down! Folks are also being real good about keeping the other “welcome sign” planters watered and have been doing some on-going litter plucking along their adopted mile on CR 31.

Loch Sheldrake hasn’t been slouching around the Renaissance either. With assistance from folks like Lance Baehm (a volunteer student from the college), all kinds of people from the New Hope Community and numerous other citizens from the area, Lori G. Rubinstein is doing one heck of a job for Loch Sheldrake. They’ve been fundraising for their projects with a lemonade stand and hotdog cart; sounds right tasty to me. They held a litterpluck a while back, and have placed several lovely flags up around the business part of town. In addition, volunteers have pruned and cleaned plant materials around the Loch Sheldrake parking lot. Whew! A person’s liable to get tired just thinking about it!

Well, that’s it for another week of Renaissance reporting. Look for more leaps and bounds ‘round the county next week.
