MASTHOPE — Sun bathers and swimmers celebrated the second leg of the Fourth of July festivities at the newly constructed pool at Masthope Mountain Community.

A grand opening ceremony was held on July 7, although the pool has been in use since Memorial Day.

Property owners in Masthope can utilize the new facility until Labor Day, according to John Castellano, chair of the owners association board. “If the weather holds, we may keep it open longer,” he said.

Project manager Rocco Chierichella said the pool, with dual tube flume slides and racing lines, is “second to none in the Poconos.” The idea was “to create more of a water park,” he said.

The 88-by-80 foot, L-shaped pool reaches a depth of 11 feet, and includes a kiddie waterfall and separate kiddie pool.

The pool “entertains all ages,” said Chierichella, and it employs Red Cross trained lifeguards.

The grand opening included an afternoon barbeque and music by Butch and the Kid Band.
