New construction in Narrowsburg

A New York State Department of Transportation crew is preparing the ground for the new Veterans’ Memorial Park on the right of the bridge to Pennsylvania. A gazebo will be erected in a few weeks. Funds for the construction and the gazebo came from State Senator John Bonacic through the offices of the Upper Delaware Council. (Click for larger image)

A Town of Tusten crew is preparing for the installation of two large sluices on either side of the bridge at Little Lake Erie to take the overflow from the lake during storms. Last August 11, a large storm caused considerable flooding and erosion in the area. (Click for larger image)

The Delaware Medical Center of the Highland Physicians in Narrowsburg is being demolished by the Pioneer Construction Company of Sturges, PA to give way for a parking lot. Construction of a new building behind the old one will begin within a week or two. Construction is expected to take four to six months. The old center was destroyed by fire on July 15, 2000. A New York State Department of Transportation crew is shown removing two signs at the bridge between New York and Pennsylvania in order to improve the view of the Big Eddy. The “Welcome To New York” sign will be located to the left of the Bridge Street entrance to New York. The “Eagle Observation” sign will be stored and hung near its current site later. The removals are at the request of the Narrowsburg Beautification Group. (Click for larger image)
