Celebrating a century of service

By TRACY DENMAN

CALLICOON — Callicoon firefighters marked their 100th anniversary and Independence Parade with the arrival of a new $175,000 pump truck and about 200 spectators.

The department currently has 21 members, as opposed to days past when 42 members served and there was a two-year waiting list before someone could join. Both the fire department and some of the local companies marched down Main Street and waved at the crowd.

One of the biggest moments came, however, when the new pump truck was unveiled and wet down by a 100-foot-long water arch from Hortonville firefighters.
