Sush withdraws request to board

MONTICELLOVillage of Monticello Manager Richard Sush has withdrawn his request to the village board to allow him to complete his term as Councilman of the Thompson Town Board. Sush’s contract with the village called for him to resign from the town board on June 15. His term as councilman would have expired in December 2003.

The village board had contracted with Sush to resign his seat because of potential conflict with the village position. The town budget sets the town’s portion of the village’s tax rate.

“Although I thoroughly enjoy being a councilman, and feel very proud of my accomplishments as a member of the town board, I understand that when I accepted the manager’s position, I did agree to resign on June 15,” said Sush. “While I may regret that decision today, I must honor the agreement.”

Sush was elected to a second term as councilman in November 1999, and became village manager in February 2001.
