powerhouse camp
REGION — The Powerhouse Baseball Academy is now
seeking 13 to 19 year old baseball players to participate in an
intensive five-day instructional showcase camp at Ft. Lauderdale
Stadium, from August 4 to 8. The camp offers high school athletes
from New York who
would like to earn college scholarships the opportunity to showcase
their skills before some of the country’s top college coaches.
The staff will include college coaches from baseball
powerhouses like The Universities of South Carolina, Cincinnati,
Southern Mississippi and Alabama,
Clemson, Ole Miss, Brown and Duke
Universities and The
Citadel.
Limited spots are awarded on a first-come, first-serve

HIGHLAND
— The Town Of Highland Lions Club will
hold its 24th annual spring golf tournament on Wednesday, June 20
(rescheduled from May 22 due to rain), at 11:
00 a.m., at Tarry Brae Golf Course, South
Fallsburg. A shotgun start
will be at 12:00 noon.
The $60 cost per player includes green fees, cart,
buffet lunch, beer and soda and cash prizes. There is a limit of
88 golfers

Soccer
season sign-ups
WAYNE
COUNTY — The Honesdale
Soccer Club has a few openings on the under 12 boys and the under
14 boys rosters. Players must be 10 years old by August l, and not yet 14 years old to register.
The Soccer Club is a recreational soccer program
for girls and boys who live in the Wayne
County area; it is not
limited to children who live in Honesdale. The season begins in
late July and continues through October, playing an eight-game season
in and around the greater Scranton
area.
Practices are on Tuesdays and Thursdays, at the
Wayne County
Recreational Park
in Beach Lake
(the group home field). Cost is $35. For more information or to

German-American
drivers in
Red Baron Pace
MONTICELLO
— As its Heritage Series continues Monticello Raceway will present
a race for drivers of German-American decent on Sunday, June 17.
To be called the Red Baron Pace, this competition
marks the fifth in the series of races for ethnic drivers. The winner
of this event will join Cedric Washington (Martin Luther King Pace),
Mike Doherty (St. Paddy Pace), Jackie Rice (Passover Pace) and Keith
Haase (Maple Leaf Pace), who already qualified
for the series final.
