Bomb scare
at
Sullivan West
By TOM KANE
JEFFERSONVIVLLE — On the evening of June 1, a janitorial
worker discovered a note taped to a wall in a restroom of the Sullivan
West at Jeffersonville school. The note stated that a bomb would
go off in the school on Monday, June 4.
Superintendent Michael Johndrow said the school
notified the state police, who brought its K9 unit to the school
to sniff out the bomb. No bomb was discovered, according to state
police.
The school’s emergency team went into action and
called every parent, notifying them about the threat and the state
police investigation. Parents were urged not to allow students to
carry any large duffle bags to school on Monday, Johndrow said.
Police and faculty were alert at the school’s opening
on Monday, watching students as they entered. No incidents occurred,
according to state police.
“This business wastes an enormous amount of time
and uselessly upsets everybody,” said Johndrow.
