Narrowsburg’s record is 10-0.

John Nober hit a home run, driving in two runs. Winning pitcher Ryan Taylor also drove in five runs.

Other Narrowsburg hitters were: Clinton Copp with four RBI’s, Bill Nordenhold with three RBI’s and Chris Melore driving in two with a triple.

“We have seven seventh graders on the starting team,” said coach Steve Daley.

Narrowsburg has scored 153 runs this year and the team’s opponents have scored 19.

“These kids can really hit and they’re not bad at all on defense,” Daley said.

Sullivan West plays smart softball

SULLIVAN WEST — The Sullivan West softball team has been named as a state champion scholar athlete team for 2001 by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA). The eleven members of the softball team had an average GPA of 90.862.

Teams earn the title of State Champion by having varsity team members earn the highest academic average in their sport. Many area schools competed for these titles. Each team that achieved an average of 90.0 percent or greater during the spring sports season received NYSPHSAA awards.

The program concludes its 10th year and has received continued sponsorship by the Pupil Benefits Plan, Inc.

MONTICELLO — Beginning in June, all post times at Monticello Raceway will be at 1:00 p.m.

The Sullivan County oval will have live racing on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays during the month of June.
