Family fun
at Costa’s
By JILL PADUA
HAWLEY — Set beautifully among nature’s landscape,
this fun park takes parents and children alike right into a wholesome,
clean atmosphere to be enjoyed by all.
Costa’s Family Fun Park, on Route 6, three miles
east of Lake Wallenpaupack, was the scene for our Saturday afternoon
outing. We arrived to find quite a few cars in the parking lot,
yet there was enough to do that there were no lines or short lines
to await our adventure.
We first headed for the driving range. Various
sized buckets can be purchased; we chose the large to share among
us. I was amazed to see how well my nine-year-old could hit a ball.
We then headed for the batting cages. No one did
very well, but all tried hard. The park offers baseball and softball,
from slow pitch to fast pitch.
From there it was ice cream, with fast and courteous
service by the staff (which, by the way, we found throughout the
park).
On to the go-carts, which impressed me the most
during our day. There are three different go-carts: The IROC for
children, Jaguar for two passengers, and the Leopard for adults.
The staff is well trained in instructing customers on the proper
way to ride, park and more. They ride around the track with the
children once, prior to allowing them to drive on their own if they
haven’t been on these go-carts before. The children are directed
to stay on the inside track, so as not to block the adults who are
driving faster cars.
There wasn’t enough time to fully enjoy the 18-hole
miniature golf course due to other commitments, so we let the kids
take a fast turn around the course. We started on the fourth hole,
and skipped a couple along the way, but we know that we will plan
to have more time to spend at Costa’s Family Fun Park on our next
trip.
My son’s last words this morning before he got
on the school bus: “I can’t wait to go back to Costa’s again, mom.”
