Dump truck capsizes

By TOM KANE

KENOZA LAKE — A large 10-wheel dump truck capsized while making a right turn at the intersection of Routes 17B and 52A. Its entire load of crusher stone spilled over the road.

The accident occurred around 9:45 a.m. on May 29. Responding was the Kenoza Lake and Jeffersonville Fire Departments. The truck was righted and the road cleared within an hour.

No other vehicles were involved.

The truck, owned by Krum Excavators of Youngsville, was traveling south on 17B. The driver, Walt Van Vleet, was attempting to make a right turn on to 52A.

“We’re investigating the accident and don’t know what caused it,” said State Trooper A. Shamah.

The Upper Delaware Volunteer Ambulance Corp. transported Van Fleet to Grover Hermann Hospital where he was treated and released.
