Trojans
triumph over Eldred
By TOM KANE
JEFFERSONVILLE — Baseball coach Frank Kean knows
his team can hit and has some good pitchers, nevertheless the Eldred
boys lost to Sullivan West - Jeffersonville Youngsville (SW/JY)
12 to 8 on May 2.
Why?
“Defense!” Kean said. “We need to get our act together
on defense. When we start doing that, we’ll start winning.”
The Yellowjackets and Trojans each had 10 hits,
but SW/JY took advantage of Eldred’s errors with some aggressive
base running.
Trojan pitcher Bill Reichmann got the win, racking
up a personal record of 2-0.
Eldred pitcher John Schneider lasted until the
top of the sixth inning and was replaced by John Martin, who gave
up only one hit in one inning.
SW/JY is 3-1 in the league play and 5-1 overall.
Eldred is 1-4 in the league and 1-5 overall.
Trojan John Fanning whacked an inside-the-park
home run, driving in two runs in the second inning, and a single
and RBI in the first inning.
Justin Pinkel had a single and two RBI’s, while
Reichmann hit two singles and had one RBI.
