Carr named to
Lumberland board
By DAVID HULSE
GLEN SPEY — Hillside resident Charles Carr was named
to fill a vacant seat on the Lumberland Town Board on February 14.
Carr, a Democrat, was the unanimous choice of the four
Republicans seated on the board.
While he was involved in party organizing in native Whitestone,
Queens, this is Carr’s first venture into elected office. A regular in
the audience at town board sessions, he comes to the town board after service
on the Lumberland Planning Board.
Carr said he contacted Supervisor John LiGreci, also
a former Planning Board member, about the vacancy because he thought he
could be of help. He said further that he thought it was always best to
have representation from both parties on government bodies. “Now I have
to decide whether I want to run for office this fall,” he added.
Carr fills the vacancy created when LiGreci resigned
as councilman to take over as supervisor when Paul Brennan left that post
last year.
