January 8
Roscoe (RCS) 83, Fallsburg 36
Danielle Austin scored 31 points and grabbed 15 rebounds
as RCS flew past visiting Fallsburg in a non-league game. Kelly Ahart also
contributed to RCS (6-2) with 23 points and six assists. RCS led 43-19
at halftime. Fallsburg (0-7) saw 11 points from Tara Adams.
Chapel Field 42, Sullivan West - Narrowsburg (SW/NS) 23
The third quarter that made all the difference in this game,
as a Chapel Field (2-6, 1-2 OCIAA) was victorious despite having only 14-13
lead at halftime. The team racked up a 22-5 run in the third quarter. Stacy
Kuperus of Chapel Field had 16 points, including 8 in the third quarter
and 10 rebounds. Ambre Wilson also scored 8 of her 10 points in the third.
Melanie Hector led Narrowsburg (1-6, 0-2 OCIAA) with seven points.
January 9
Livingston Manor (LM) 37, The Family School 17
Host Livingston Manor opened the game with 16-4 run and
cruised to an OCIAA Division V win over The Family School. Rachelle Irwin
led the Wildcats (4-3, 2-0 OCIAA) with 12 points and six assists and Casey
Green added eight points. The Family School is 1-7, 0-1 OCIAA.
Eldred (ECS) 37, Chester 25
Erin Donnelly and Christine Lizzi each scored 10 points,
leading host ECS (6-1, 3-0 OCIAA) over Chester in a Division IV game. Jaimie
More had a game-high 14 points for Chester (4-4, 1-3 OCIAA).
Sullivan West - Jeffersonville Youngsville (SW/JY) 34, S.S.
Seward 32
Overcoming a five-point deficit at the half, SW/JY barely
won this OCIAA Division IV game in Florida over Seward. Helping the SW/JY
cause was Kristin Erlwein with 12 points and Tiffany Hauser with 11. For
Seward (3-6, 0-4 OCIAA), Jess Marchesano made 12 points, but missed her
potential game-tying shot at the buzzer.
Tri-Valley (TV) 50, Roscoe (RCS) 43
Hether Bachmann posted 15 points and seven rebounds for
TV (6-3), with the team hitting seven out of nine free throws in the fourth
quarter to defeat RCS (6-3) in a non-league game in Grahamsville. Jessica
Devore added eight points and Megan Sheeley had seven points and eight
rebounds. However, the biggest TV helper was Jessica Miller, whose seven
points in the fourth may have given RCS its seven-point victory. The game’s
high scorers were RCS’s Danielle Austin with 19 points and Kelly Ahart
with 10.
January 11
Eldred (ECS) 55, Sullivan West – Jeffersonville Youngsville
(SW/JY) 39
ECS gave host SW/JY its first loss of the season. ECS started
with a 10-0 run and had a 26-9 lead at halftime, with both teams scoring
about 30 points each in the second half of this OCIAA Division IV game.
Leading ECS (7-1, 4-0 OCIAA) was Christine Lizzi with 17 points and Staci
Blaut with 11 points and 15 rebounds. Aileen Semenetz paced SW/JY (9-1,
4-1 OCIAA) with 10 points.
Tri-Valley (TV) 55, Fallsburg 31
Sophomore Heather Bachmann scored a career-high 22 points
to lead TV over Fallsburg in an OCIAA Division IV game in Grahamsville.
Bachmann had 12 rebounds and six steals for TV (7-3, 3-1 OCIAA). Megan
Sheeley had eight points and six rebounds for the Bears. Tara Adams’ 14
points paced Fallsburg (0-9, 0-3 OCIAA).
Roscoe (RCS) 61, Sullivan West – Narrowsburg (SW/NS) 27
Kelly Ahart scored 15 points, Danielle Austin had 13 and
Jessica Lake and Staci Fersch each had 12 for RCS (7-3, 2-0 OCIAA) to bolster
a OCIAA Division V win over host SW/NS. Melanie Hector had eight points
for SW/NS (0-2 OCIAA).
Sullivan West -Delaware Valley (SW/DV) 49, Livingston Manor
(LM) 47
A last minute shot gave SW/DV the win over LM. Jen Ackerman
scored a jump shot with 30 seconds left in this OCIAA Division V game in
Callicoon. Calley Sander finished it off with a free throw in the last
seconds. Sander scored 17 points for SW/DV (4-4, 3-1 OCIAA) and Ackerman
added 13. Bridget Ellison scored 19 for LM (4-4, 2-1 OCIAA) and Rachelle
Irwin and Casey Green each scored nine.
Boys basketball
January 8
Sullivan West - Narrowsburg (SW/NS) 78, Livingston Manor
(LM) 70
Evan Kraack scored nine of his 13 points in the third quarter
as host SW/NS overcame a three-point halftime deficit to down LM in an
OCIAA Division V game. Bruce Nober topped SW/NS (5-3, 2-0 OCIAA)with 22
points. Ken Emeigh added 17 and Chad Powell had 13 for the Indians, who
outscored LM 27-8 in the third quarter. Scott Denman scored 22 points and
Ryan Carlson had 18 points for LM (2-9, 0-2 OCIAA).
Tuxedo 49, Sullivan West – Jeffersonville Youngsville (SW/JY)

In this close OCIAA Division IV game at SW/JY, Tuxedo narrowly
prevailed. Shannon Elliott led Tuxedo (3-4, 1-1 OCIAA) with 19 points and
Doug Santiago scored eight. Jon Tanous scored 13 points for SW/JY (6-3,
2-1 OCIAA). Justin Pinkel added 11 points for the Trojans.
January 10
Tuxedo 73, Eldred )ECS) 53
Shannon Elliott scored 14 of his team-high 21 points in
the first half as host Tuxedo breezed past ECS in an OCIAA Division IV
game. Joe Hagerty added 16 points for Tuxedo (4-4, 2-1 OCIAA), which led
14-11 after the first quarter and 39-22 at halftime. Joe Scully scored
24 points and Ryan Jasper added 15 points for ECS (4-4, 2-2 OCIAA).
Chester 55, Tri-Valley (TV) 54
In a Division IV game in Grahamsville, Chester’s Donte Griggs
gave 22 points toward the win over TV. Also leading Chester (8-1, 2-1 OCIAA)
was Peter Jones with 10. Josh Lowitz’s 18 points led TV (4-5, 0-4 OCIAA).
Durk Pearston scored 15 and Kyle Humphrey had 10 for the Bears.
Sullivan West - Narrowsburg (SW/NS) 57, Chapel Field 53
Eight of Bruce Nober’s 26 points were scored in the fourth
quarter helping Narrowsburg’s edge over Chapel Field in an OCIAA Division
V game in Pine Bush. The game was tied at 31 at halftime and tied at 42
after three quarters. Chad Powell had 11 points and Mike Cookingham had
10 for the Indians. Eric Sickinger, Chris Vellenga and John Bast had 14
points apiece for Chapel Field (1-7, 1-1 OCIAA).
Sullivan West - Jeffersonville Youngsville (SW/JY) 62, The
Family School 56
Jon Tanous scored a game-high 22 points as SW/Jy defeated
The Family School in a non-league game at Hancock. Craig Corigliano scored
16 points and Gregg Sementz added 11 points for SW/JY (8-2). Sean Hogan’s
17 points led The Family School (2-8) and Ryley Eckersley scored 16.
