Can you break the TV habit?

LIBERTY — The Liberty Elementary School (LES) Parent Teacher’s Association (PTA) announces “Break Free From TV Week” scheduled for January 22 to 26. The following events have been scheduled to take place throughout the week:

Monday, January 22: Parents and children are invited to help kick off “TV Free Week” with a pajama party. Parents and students come dressed in their pajamas and are entertained with guest readers, who will share their favorite bedtime stories. The evening will end with a bedtime snack of milk and cookies.

Tuesday, January 23: Mystery night. Stay home, go out, make a craft, but stay away from that TV set. You will have the opportunity to share your activity on the banner in the LES lobby.

Wednesday, January 24: Math mania night! All kinds of math games and activities will be set up at various stations for parents and students to play together. Everyone will receive a prize and a sweet treat to end the evening.

Thursday, January 25: Family game night. Stay home and make some popcorn while playing games with the family. A deck of cards will be available to every family or you can sign out a game from the elementary school. You can even play your own.

Friday, January 26: Visit with the Stewart’s Animal Kingdom. Live exotic animals will be on display for parents and students to not only see but to learn about as well. The evening will commence with an ice cream sundae party.

Monday, Wednesday, and Friday events are free and begin at 6:30 p.m. in the LES gym.

All students in grades K-5 and their parents are welcome to attend each of the events. An adult must accompany students who wish to attend any of the activities.

The PTA extends its thanks to the local merchants who gave donations to help make “TV Free Week” a success.
