NARROWSBURG — The Upper Delaware Council reorganized for the new year last Thursday, electing Cochecton delegate and Councilman Larry Richardson as its chair, Alan Bowers of Westfall as vice-chair and Lewis Schmalzle of Highland as Secretary Treasurer.

All three officers are past chairmen. Richardson, who served in 1993, has been a delegate since 1989. In remarks after his installation, Richardson said the UDC had come a long way in 12 years, “like a baby learning to walk.”

In the coming year he plans to emphasize the UDC role as an educator. “Our young people need to be better informed about the treasure in our backyard,” he said.
