Three injured in
12 car accident

MONTICELLO -- State police say three motorists were injured early Wednesday morning, January 10 in a multi-car accident that forced temporary closure of the eastbound lanes of Route 17.

Police said sun glare just west of the 104 exit initially prompted one driver to slow to a point where he was struck in the rear by a following vehicle. While details are still under investigation, police said the accident involved four separate, but related accidents. As the first two motorists stopped along the shoulder, others similarly blinded slowed, resulting in a series of collisions.

Three persons required medical treatment following the 7:58 a.m. incident, the most serious injury being a possible leg fracture.
