SW/DV girls head
for sectionals

CALLICOON - The Sullivan
West-Delaware Valley girls varsity soccer team beat the Chester girls last
Friday by a score of 3-0.
Senior Alicia Peters
scored two goals and Junior Megan Moran scored the other. "We limited the
Chester team to only one shot in the second half, eight shots for the entire
game," said SW/DV coach Mike Mahoney.
Goalie Danielle Peters
had five saves.
SW/DV's record is
8-6-2. They are third seeded in the Sectionals, which began last Monday
with a game between Sullivan West-Jeffersonville Youngsville and Chester.
In Sectional play,
SW/DV will face the second seeded Roscoe team on Wednesday, November 1
at Roscoe.
Bulldogs
lose title to O'Neill

WEST POINT - A few
minutes into the first quarter, the Sullivan West Bulldog varsity football
team scored on its first six plays, with Kevin Mullally going 11 yards
into the end zone.
When all the shouting
was over, however, James I. O'Neill won by a score of 46 to 34 at West
Point last Friday evening, clinching the Section 9 Class C title.
The two teams will
face each other on Friday, November 3 at 8:00 p.m. at Kingston's Dietz
Stadium for the beginning of the Sectional Championships.
O'Neill's halfback
Austin Wilson scored four touchdowns-two rushing and two receiving. Quarter
back Jon Logan threw four touchdown passes and ran another for O'Neill.
O'Neill's record
is 8-1 overall and 4-0 Class C. Sullivan West's record is 6-3 overall and
3-1 Class C.
Sullivan West's Mullally
and John Compton had two touchdowns each and Paul Barrett had one.
Sectional
playoff schedule

SULLIVAN COUNTY -
The Sullivan West Bulldog varsity football team made the Sectional Playoffs
and will play James I. O'Neill High School at Deitz Stadium in Kingston
on Friday, November 3 at 8:00 p.m.
The Bulldogs lost
to O'Neill last Friday evening by a score of 46-34.
The Sullivan West
Jeffersonville Youngsville girls soccer team will play at Florida on November
1 at 2:00 p.m. while the Sullivan West Delaware Valley girls play at Roscoe
on November 2 at 2:00 p.m.
Monti awards
banquet
SOUTH FALLSBURG -
The outstanding performances, both human and equine, at Monticello Raceway
and Goshen Historic Track during the 2000 racing season will be cited when
the Monticello-Goshen Chapter of the U.S. Harness Writers Association holds
its 42nd Annual Awards Banquet at the Raleigh Hotel in South Fallsburg
on Sunday, November 12 at 6:00 p.m.
The main honorees
that evening will be Lon Frocione "Lifetime Achievement Award," Larry Roman
"Good Guy;" John Bach "Distinguished Service Award" and Walter Blacharski
"Amateur Driver of the Year."
The chapter also
sells a charity journal with most of the proceeds being donated to Historic
Track and the Harness Racing Museum and Hall of Fame.
Dinner begins at
7:15 p.m. Tickets are $47 each and can be obtained by contacting banquet
chairman John Manzi at Monticello Raceway at 845/794-4100.
