Castellano
sprung from jail

By TOM KANE

MONTICELLO - Actor Richard Castellano was freed on $10,000 bail last Monday.

He had been in jail since August 15 under a $25,000 bail judgement set by Tusten Justice Ralph Huebner at the recommendation of the Sullivan County District Attorney. The DA felt that Castellano might flee since he owned nothing in the county and had no other known assets.

Neither Castellano nor his wife Jocelyne, who is the executive director of the Narrowsburg International Independent Film Festival, could raise the $25,000 or get a bond.

Castellano, arraigned last week for four counts of grand larceny and one count of a scheme to defraud, will be tried in Sullivan County Court in Monticello on November 8 at 9:30 a.m. After the arraignment, Supreme Court Judge Frank Labuda lowered the bail to $10,000 at the request of Castellano's attorney.
