Cochecton board defers extending sewers

By TOM KANE

COCHECTON - The Town of Cochecton Board says it will not decide to extend the lines of the sewer district to outside users until it is clear what the impact of the sewer extension to the new high school building will be. "We also have to hear from the DEC (New York State Department of Environmental Conservation) before we do anything,' said town supervisor Sal Indelicato.

Construction on the new school is expected to begin in early spring.

Recently, the town received a state grant for $310,000 to refurbish the antiquated sewer district.

In other town matters, the board will meet on October 17 and 19 to work on the new budget. "After that, we'll know better where we stand," Indelicato said.

He has yet to hear from highway superintendent Brian Dubois on the exact cost of highway repairs which were necessitated by the August 11 storm.

"When we get that figure, we'll be able to finish the budget," he said.
