Film
Fest planned
for 2001

NARROWSBURG
-- Jocelyne Castellano says she is down but not out.
"I fully intend
to produce the Third Annual Narrowsburg International Independent
Film Festival next summer," she said.
And that's despite
the fact that her actor husband, Richard, co-owner of the festival,
is in jail facing trial for four counts of grand larceny and, if
guilty, could go to jail for seven years, and despite the fact that
she admits the festival still owes backers and supporters over $35,000.
"I am attempting
to pay all the money back," she said. "I have been in contact with
all the people I owe money to; I will clear the debt and my name."
Castellano said
that her husband has resigned from any office in the film festival.
"I made some
mistakes like anyone does in a new venture," she said. "I apologize
for that. We overextended ourselves but we feel that the festival
did a lot of good for Narrowsburg and Sullivan County and it still
can."
She is also
going to court, she said, to have her name removed from all small
claims court decisions against her husband and herself.
Town of Tusten
Justice Ralph Huebner said that Jocelyne Castellanao is a co-defendant
in all of the civil cases against Richard, except for one of the
14 cases. These cases represent 14 members of the film "Four Deadly
Reasons," that has never been produced. The 14 say they never were
paid and the court ruled in their favor.
The court also
ruled in favor of lawyer Deb Ireland who for a brief time represented
Richard and was not paid. Since the ruling, Ireland has sought and
granted treble damages since she was not paid within the month the
court gave.
Huebner said
he is expecting another 10 appeals for treble damages from film
crew members who have not been paid.
