Auction to fight the quarry

HONESDALE - QUILT (Quarry Under Investigation in Lebanon Township) is holding a fundraising Dinner/Auction at the scenic Bryn Mawr Conference Center on Saturday, October 14 beginning at 5 p.m. with a review of the items to be auctioned. A delicious buffet will be served. Tickets are $25 per person, and can be purchased at Jamieson's Greenhouse, The Sound Doctor or Unicorn Stables, or by calling Gina Pritchard 570/253-6730 or Gladys Jamieson 570/253-4810.

QUILT is a group of citizens and businesses in Wayne County who have joined together to stop a very large stone quarry from moving into the pristine countryside. The group was formed to help neighbors and the county, and to keep the roads safe for children.

The proposed site of the quarry/asphalt plant, is on a beautiful mountainside, and will be seen, heard and felt for miles around. QUILT states that the impact on visitors to the area will cause a great strain on the tourism industry, which will affect all businesses in Wayne County.
