| TWO
INJURED IN TURKEY HUNTING ACCIDENT
ROSCOE - Police
say two Long Island men were shot by their father in an apparent
hunting accident Sunday on the first day of turkey hunting season
New York State
Police and Environmental Conservation Police reported that 65-year-old
Antonio Sicignano of Elmont, N.Y., was hunting on his property on
Punch Bowl Rd. in the Town of Rockland. He fired a twelve-gauge
shotgun at what he thought was a turkey. The birdshot struck his
sons, 23-year-old Michael Sicignano, and 31 year old John Sicignano
at a distance of 49 yards. Both men were transported to Community
General Hospital by the Roscoe Volunteer Ambulance Corps with wounds
to the eyes, face, chest and thigh. They were treated at the hospital
and released.
Their father
was charged with second-degree reckless endangerment and a hunting
license violation. The two victims were each charged with turkey
hunting without a permit. All three were arraigned in Town of Rockland
Justice Court and paid $150 fines for the hunting violations. The
father will reappear at a later date to answer the criminal charge.

DOG LICENSE CRACKDOWN
MILFORD - State
Dog Warden Wayne McCue says that effective immediately, there will
be a crack down on the owners of unlicensed dogs and unvaccinated
dogs in Pike County.
Pike County
leads the Northeast Pennsylvania region in the number of prosecutions
for unlicensed dogs and dogs not vaccinated for rabies.
All dogs older
than three months must be licensed and have rabies shots, McCue
said. "We will not except any excuses for this not being done...Do
not wait until we show up at your door step. It will be too late,"
he said.
