Tyler Hill to get a new post office

By TOM KANE

DAMASCUS - U. S. Postal officials appeared before the Damascus Township Board of Supervisors on Monday, August 21 to reveal plans to replace the Tyler Hill Post Office and invited the comments of board members and town residents.

Postal officials said the present station is not handicapped accessible and a new facility must be either found or built.

Advertisements will be put in local papers announcing that a property could be rented or leased if it met the requirements. The space must be at least 1,000 square feet in total area. Thirty days after the appearance of the ads, the postal service will make a decision and inform the township.

Officials are also open to building a new facility or have someone else build it and lease it to the service.

If a lease is chosen, it would be for 20 years, they said.
