JANET A. BALECK

HONESDALE - Janet A. Balek of Honesdale, a former resident of Emmaus, died Monday, August 7, 2000 at Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton. She was 65.

Daughter of the late Horace B. and Kathryn E. Greenfield Rust, she was born May 12, 1935 in Bethlehem, PA.

Survivors include a son, John and wife Sue of Macungie, PA; a daughter, Janet Keretz and husband Todd of Emmaus; a brother William Rust of Honesdale; two grandchildren, Heather Herman and Brett Getz, both of Emmaus; two nephews; an aunt and a cousin.

Services were held at the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home in Honesdale. Burial was in the Indian Orchard Cemetery in Indian Orchard.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 63 North Franklin Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18703.

DONALD FULTON

COCHECTON - Donald Fulton of Cochecton, a retired farmer and lifelong area resident, died Monday, August 7, 2000 at the Walnut Mountain Care Center in Liberty. He was 86.

Son of the late Orin and Edna Broadhead Fulton, he was born October 19, 1913 in Bethel.

He was a member of the Sullivan County Beekeepers Association and the Cochecton Republican Club.

Survivors include his wife, Muriel Just Fisher Fulton, at home; two daughters, Alice Kelly of Hilton and Irene Wright and husband Norman of Old Fort, NC; two sons, Fred Fisher and wife Barbara of Kendall and Arthur Fisher and wife Beth of Tucson, AZ; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.

A memorial service was held at the Lake Huntington Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Jacob Wielhouwer officiated. Burial of the cremains was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Bethel.

AGNES M. JAVITZ

BEACH LAKE - Agnes M. Javitz of Beach Lake, a former Long Island resident, died Tuesday, August 1, 2000 at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale. She was 83.

Daughter of the late John and Mary Kusek, she was born April 11, 1917 in Lackawanna County, PA. She was the widow of Stanley Javitz, Jr.

Survivors include two sons, Stanley III of Port Jefferson, NY and Michael of Shirley, NY; two daughters, Anna Mausolf of Holbrook, NY and Dolores Javitz at home; a brother, John Kusek of Florida; a sister, Irene of New Jersey; 26 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Joanne Quinn; brothers and sisters.

Services were held at the Hessling Funeral Home in Honesdale. Burial was in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Narrowsburg, NY.

VINCENT J. MARTONE

HONESDALE - Vincent John Martone of Honesdale, a retired coordinator of Wayne County Emergency Management, and a lifelong area resident, died Monday, August 7, 2000 at home. He was 83.

Son of the late Louis and Vincenza Cusati Martone, he was born April 2, 1917 in Honesdale. He was the widower of Ethel Berry Martone.

He served in the 28th Infantry Division in World War II and was held as a prisoner of war in Germany. He owned and operated Martone's Bar and Restaurant; was a member of Hose Co. #1 Fire Department and served as fire chief of Honesdale for 20 years; he was a founding member of Buck's Cove Rod & Gun Club; and was president of the board of trustees of Farview State Hospital; was grand marshal of the Honesdale Veteran's Memorial Day Parade. He enjoyed a hobby of antique cars; had held a private pilot's license at one time; and was an active member of the Democratic Party.

Survivors include a son, Vincent W. of Honesdale; two daughters, Sally A. Blowers and husband Scott, and Susan L. Martone and Terry Temperton, all of Honesdale; two grandsons, Craig and Cory Blowers; two brothers, Lawrence of Honesdale and Robert of Las Cruces, NM; two sisters, Caroline Mearns of Weehauken, NJ and Filmena Martone of Las Cruces, NM; cousins; nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister, Madeline Rummetsch and a brother, Peter.

A Mass of Christian Burial was offered in St. Mary Magdalen's Church in Honesdale. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

IRVING L. ROBINSON

HAWLEY - Irving L. Robinson of Hawley, a retired truck driver for Hygrade Printing in Caldwell, NJ, died Tuesday, August 8, 2000 at Julia Ribaudo Nursing Home in Lake Ariel. He was 83.

Son of the late Ernest L. and Alice Sangster Robinson, he was born in New York, NY. He was the widower of Martha E. Fowlkes Robinson.

He was a U.S. Army-Air Force World War II veteran; and was a member of the Church at Hemlock Farms in Hawley.

Survivors include two brothers, Winston and Wesley, both of Washington, DC.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, August 26, 2:00 p.m. at the Church at Hemlock Farms, 1493 Hemlock Farms in Hawley. The Rev. Robert Duncan will officiate.

CHARLOTTE L. OSTRANDER SCHELLBERG

DAMASCUS TWP. - Charlotte L. Ostrander Schellberg of Damascus Twp., a retired 28-year Human Resource Advisor for the Becton-Dickinson Company in Hancock, NY, died Thursday, August 10, 2000 at home. She was 61.

Daughter of the late Francis Ostrander, who died in 1990, and Charlotte Donovan Ostrander of Lookout, PA, she was born May 13, 1939 in Wallkill, NY

She was a graduate of Damascus High School and attended East Stroudsburg University.

She was a member of the Abramsville United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Richard J. Schellberg, Sr. at home; her mother; two sons, Richard Jr. and wife Maria of Chestnut Ridge, NY and Michael and wife Cathy of West Warwick, RI; a daughter, Jill McConnell of Welcome Lake; a brother, Jon Ostrander of Charlotte, NC; two sisters, Shirley Ostrander of Lookout and Kathy Ostrander of Columbia, MD; three grandchildren, Riley and Devon McConnell and Kyle Schellberg; nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Donald Ostrander and Robert Ostrander.

A memorial service was held in the Abramsville United Methodist Church. The Rev. George Gallandorm, pastor officiated. Cremation took place at Maple Hill at Salem Crematory in Archbald. Burial was in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Galilee, PA.

KURT O.H. SCHIRMER

HAWLEY - Kurt O.H. Schirmer of Hawley, died Saturday, August 5, 2000 at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale. He was 80.

He was born in Germany. He was the widower of Mary C. Schirmer.

Survivors include three sons, Walter W. Weslowski of Virginia Beach, VA, Leon Weslowski of Portville, NY and John Stendor of Sussex; a daughter, Leona Gertsmann of Sussex; a brother, Alfred of Massachusetts; a sister, Ingeborg Gistedt of Baton Rouge, LA; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services were held at the Pinkel Funeral Home in Sussex. Burial was at the Clove Cemetery.

HARRIET F. STEWART

CALLICOON - Harriet F. Stewart of Callicoon, a longtime area resident, died Thursday August 10, 2000

at the Grover Hermann Division of Community General Hospital in Callicoon. She was 86.

Daughter of the late Harry and Mabel Wagner Steffens, she was born April 16, 1914 in New York City. She was the widow of Howard A. Stewart.

Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Barton of California; two sons, John "Jack" and Craig, both of Callicoon; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Burial was in the North Branch Cemetery.
