Castellano charged with assault

By TOM KANE

NARROWSBURG - State police charged actor Richard Castellano with assault last Wednesday after he allegedly attacked a Main Street resident in Narrowsburg.

Castellano claimed the resident, Robert Schafer, got into a fight with two visitors who asked him for directions to the Narrowsburg International Independent Film Festival, which was held last week.

Castellano said that Schafer was harboring a grudge against the festival since last summer.

When Schafer entered the festival office, Castellano claimed he attacked Castellano's wife, Jocelyne, who is also director of the festival, striking her on the right arm with a metal rod.

Schafer then left the office with Castellano after him.

When Schafer complained to the police, Castellano was served with an appearance ticket. The Castellanos refused to make a cross complaint against Schafer.

Schafer could not be reached for comment. Castellano's case will be heard before Judge Ralph Huebner of the Town of Tusten this Friday at 10:00 a.m.

Castellano, who appeared in the movie, "Analyze This" with Robert DeNiro, has been charged with writing several bad checks and has at least two court cases over the matter pending, one in Monticello court and another in Tusten court.

"I'm not going to stand by and watch my wife be attacked," Castellano said.
