Keeping a watchful eye open

BETHEL - Issues of compliance were the main topic at the Town of Bethel Planning Board at its August 8 meeting.

Planning Board Chairman Herman Bressler read into the minutes a letter sent to Paul Zaccari, owner and operator of the new Citgo station directly across from Smallwood's Pine Grove Road on 17B. The letter cited a handful of violations spotted by Code Enforcement Officer Tim Dexter, including an unauthorized exit onto 17B, unauthorized signs and unfinished landscaping that was supposed to have been completed around the approved sign for the gas station.

As of the meeting, Zaccari had less than ten days to comply. If the property is not brought into line with the requirements of the approved site plan, the planning board resolved to seek permission from the town board to pursue legal action.
