MILFORD - If you use the Citizens Communications telephone directory
for Port Jervis and Milford and you want to call the Pennsylvania
State Police, police say you should not use the number listed in
the front of the phone book.
If you do, you may not get an answer.
A spokesperson at the Pike County Communications Center said Monday
that the line was damaged recently by lightning and has not yet
been repaired.
Corporal Halas of the Blooming Grove Barracks said the correct
number is 570/226-5718. He said he was unaware that Citizens had
listed any other number. The listed number, he said, is a police
number, but not a primary number. He confirmed it recently has been
out of order from time to time. Calls to the listed number appeared
to ring unanswered on Monday.
A spokesperson for Citizens Communications directory services said
Tuesday that the number is in a GTE service area and was provided
to Citizens by GTE. She said the number could not be corrected until
a new directory is prepared. In the meantime, "We'll have to get
in touch with them to forward calls to that line," she said.
