Castellano's legal woes continue

By TOM KANE

MONTICELLO - Actor Richard Castellano, who appeared in the movie "Analyze This," was arrested again and released on $5,000 bail after another bounced check episode, this time to John Borg of Narrowsburg.

Castellano was arraigned before Highland Justice Franz Eric Kopf.

The order to arrest him came from Tusten Justice Ralph Huebner.

Sergeant Burton Reed of the state police said Castellano freely turned himself in after learning of the order of arrest him.

His case comes up before Justice Huebner at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 21.

"I don't know why Judge Huebner set such a high bail [while] not knowing all the circumstances with Borg," Castellano said.

He claims to have paid Borg $11,000 of the $61,000 he owes him.

"When he [Borg] threatened me, I gave him the check for $5,000 and told him to hold it until my residual check from Warner Brothers arrived."

Borg cashed it and it bounced.

Castellano was originally arrested and released on bail three weeks ago after a check for $1,500 that he allegedly wrote to Budget Rent-a-Car bounced.

In another action before Huebner's court, 14 other complainants who worked on his movie "Four Deadly Reasons," have asked the court to recover back pay amounting to $11,215. These complaints will also be addressed at his Friday appearance.

On the original charge presented by Budget, Castellano, who claimed he was wrongfully arrested and detained in the Monticello lock up, said that Robert Green Motors arranged for the car rental when his car was in repair. They should be the ones arraigned, not him, he said.

A hearing on this case was adjourned to give Castellano's lawyer, Steve Vegliante, time to consider if he wishes to represent him.

A new hearing is set for 5:30 p.m. on July 31 at the Monticello court.

In a third action against him, last Friday, Mimi Black, a former publicist for the Narrowsburg Film Festival who sued him for back pay, appeared in Tusten Town Court to sign forms indicating that he has not fulfilled his obligation set by the court in paying her.
