Eddy Farm is not changing hands

SPARROWBUSH — “It’s not happening,” said one of Eddy Farm’s owners in response to rumors about the impending sale of the venerable resort.

John Conway and Steve Eisenberg own the riverside resort. Conway said Tuesday that he is familiar with rumors that have been around now for several weeks, involving a sale to a national hotel chain looking for an outlet close to a proposed Sullivan County gambling casino.

But the rumors have no basis in fact, he said. “If it were true, I think I would know about it,” he added.

“It’s pretty common knowledge that we’ve had to spend our first year rebuilding both the business and the physical structure. But we’ve gotten through the first year. Now, we’ve got our schedule planned for this season and we’re looking forward to it,” Conway added.

Conway did confirm that “we’ve had people looking… As a businessman, you can’t say you won’t sell if the right offer comes along, but we haven’t had that offer and there is no deal,” he said.
